At level 6, I was using an unfocused earth pet to solo Bakdor's as well as orc hill. By 9 my earth pet could take on up to 5 blues or even the orc trainer (level 13).
I would offtank and/or chain/heal the pet depending on the situation. Some mobs I get full exp, some I get 50%. It's fun and worked for me.
