Guild and raid leaders, along with the brown nosing officers they employ typically take the role on because at one level or another they enjoy the power trip or in some cases, as with some raiding guilds, they get to look after their pals first...and keep new members well away from the precious pixels (after all Soandso has been in the guild for YEARS, his 6th alt deserved that item over the new member on his main)

I've never been an officer in an EQ guild, or WoW or anything else...its more fun to just enjoy the game you're playing without all the politics and drama.

Dunno what guild this is directed at. But I really have no idea where this comes from. I've never been part of a guild that has done this. Not on Live not in other games and not on P99. I joined BDA at the start of Velious and I've already gotten quite a bit of loot /shrug
HOWEVER back to RNF shitposting. I find it HILARIOUS that 3 different guilds all of which have enough members to do their own raids somehow find it necessary to do 2-3 way joint raids just to compete with BDA. THEN have the sack to come to RNF and boast about their multi guild zerg kills and imply they are a "tier" ahead because of it. Yikes guys. Seriously yikes.
