It really does come down to the big ass guilds agreeing to FiF...because the current rule set is heavily in their favor. They have the ability and infrastructure to bounce all over the place and FTE anything they want.
This new system allows < small family guild of stalwart adventurers > to lay claim to a statue spawn that they normally wouldn't have a prayer of attempting.
I think it's the best answer though.

I agree with this. It forces the big guilds to start figuring out what spawns are most important to them and gives more people a chance at participating by staking claims in mobs they desire.
Again, though, without GM intervention (and a force large enough to be there mostly when needed), I don't think we'll see it. We can already see how the leaders of some of the big guilds have responded to the idea, so there is zero chance they'd agree to a gentleman's agreement.
