Cold was OP for a certain few things.
Like the Wavecrasher slow proc. It was originally a Cold resist proc, meaning that the classic mechanic preventing mobs from being slow able (making them magic immune) didn't prevent people from slowing with a cold proc item. So people were slowing something like... Vyemm when they shouldn't have been able to.
So they moved it to magic resist check.
The Epic pet proc however is still cold resist check per Lucy data today and I didn't find anywhere in the history it mentioning magic resist. The stun proc is always magic and the nuke proc is always cold.
