It should be possible for you to get an exception for 3 or 4 people.
You need to submit an IP exemption request in the petition/exploit section of the forums. The request can take several weeks to be processed but the GM's will eventually get to it. Also, your 4th person may be able to play, I believe others have been able to play EQ on a mac with some extra software.
Maybe others know more about EQ on a Mac?
