It wasn't just the defense allowing 40. The problem was that the Falcons let the wind out of Weeden's sails with the interception. He just stopped doing anything useful on offense. He was unable to keep the defense off of the field with all of this three-and-outs. Hint: throwing it underneath on every pass might work if you run three pass plays in a row, but if you do it every time on 3rd and 25, you're going to have a bad time.
