The issue with behavior in the present situation is a matter of the willful exchange of intellectual sovereignty for intellectual/moral servitude, in the pursuit of fleeting self interests. If someone consistently relies on others for their own opinions even in the face of those things which they intuitively recognize as wrong, then their intellectual surrender is complete and the sway others hold over their decisions is absolute.
