server got gay after exp boost and infinite kunark resulted in people having armies of extremely geared characters that they can just plug and swap between to avoid pvp making it more meaningless then it was already rendered after PnP and exp loss removal
no one over level 20 cares about getting killed because there are no penalties and they have 10 other toons they can play, kinda made the whole point of open world pvp moot

Group xp was one of the best things that happened to server. Xp loss was terrible. This aint 1999 anymore, nobody wants to play EQ with that much annoyance in it besides you and like chewie and 15 other people (which was basically the boxes' pop at its lowest peak) so that a few of you can feel real masculine and marlboro-man-like.
Years of Kunark definitely bad, so was the xp loss era which saw the box drop from 600 peak pop to like 75 until xp was boosted by Rogean. When they nerfed it, box died again (The "it has to go bad before its gonna get better" month or two) until group xp went in and server finally recuperated a bit and taken off life support. Everything before group xp went in, it was metaphorically the dark ages and without muslim science group xp thats where it would have stayed. lol.
