I am really enjoying my Wiz on the TLP but forum writers here trashed Wizards pretty bad as a useful group member (I don't mind soloing, but prefer grouping when I can!) so it's this dynamic where I'm trying to sort out what is fact vs fiction on the actual server. I have been plugging away on a few characters getting different comfort levels.
If I ever did raid it would be super casual.

Wizards and rangers are probably the most picked-on classes on p99, but even then I never personally object to them in groups, and I rarely see anyone I am grouping with actually object to picking them up.
You'll be fine no matter what you do here. In popular zones, groups are plentiful and easy to get into. There are also plenty of zones that are mostly unoccupied if you prefer to solo or explore.
