Never understood hybrid penalty hate. If you group it's all spread out anyway. Bards are generally in demand in groups, due to cc and regen/clarity songs. And if you are solo swarm kiting instead, the vast amounts of xp you get for killing a zone overwhelm that penalty.
I would even go so far to say the penalty is deserved for most hybrid classes. Bards are incredibly versatile in group and solo situations. Shadowknights and Paladins are both better aggro tanks than Warriors, who only recently acquired a reason to live with Velious raid mobs.
Rangers... well, ok. But just them.
