I actually have guns for many reasons, growing up my father was a gunsmith and owned a gun shop. I carry on that family tradition through gunsmithing and stock re-finishing in my spare time.

I also love to target shoot and I have a ton of fun shooting with my kids when we get the chance. I would rather be the one to teach my kids proper gun safety as my father taught me. Not their friends when they are teenagers.

Another reason is equity. I have equity in my house, my 401k, my IRA and in my guns. I own some pretty nice firearms. Some I will pass down to my kids, and others I use to sell and trade to aquire more firearms to add to my collection. I have guns that have more than tripled in value from when I aquired them.

And lastly, I have guns to protect my family and myself. I have yet to have one of my firearms attack me on their own free will. When one does though, I will throw them all away and get a good wooden stick with a nail in it.
