There's no manifesto to be had here. You sound panicked. Whether you like it or not, weapons are going to be a continuing factor in human society, be they guns, knives, fists, or whatever.
What happened to the reporter and her crew was a tragedy. It sucks. Tragedies happen every day though.
You do know there are professions that involve the responsible use of firearms right? Police, military, private security, private investigation, range and safety instruction? It's not just self defense and crime out here.
