I used to dislike the Beretta 92, but later came to realize that my dislike was largely due to the ones I had experience with being beaten up ill maintained pieces of military junk. Then again, I served in a unit that had some of the worst firearms and firearm-maintenance I had ever seen (or ever saw after). It was downright appalling. I could write a book about it. Heard an IG inspection eventually ironed it out.

Recently for a security gig, I got a chance to mess around with a Taurus PT92 SS, which I got on loan from a colleague of mine (this was before they changed the state law about that).

At first I was pretty apprehensive about it (heard a number of Taurus horror stories in the past), and I normally carry a very different piece, but this time I had to go to 9mm for the job due to insurance and logistics concerns (which were rather pointless anyway, as the gig was very uneventful). After getting to familiarize myself with it (and put some rounds downrange), it wasn't bad at all. I was given advice that, if I ever got one myself, to get after market magazines for it though. Apparently the factory ones were awful. Not sure what brand of mags my friend had. I forgot to ask.
