380 really isnt even in the same ballpark as 9mm or 38.
But, there really isnt much diference in the diameter of a 9 or 38, a couple thousanths of an inch is all. 38 is a revolver style round that can hold its own since you can use +pp hollowpoints etc, and in some 9mm, you have issues with feedramps loading properly when attempting to use hot loads that are hollowpoint etc. The downside is 5 to 6 shots in a cylinder compared to a large capacity magazine spitting out a lot of 9mm rounds at a little higher velocity.
Overall either is a decent round and very comparable in stopping power. But why chance it? Be a man and carry 357 mag or 45 like me =p
