I remember that the
Rune Etched Icewurm Fang was able to be placed in Range slot back in Velious, and it wasn't until later on that it was made Primary only.

Although it CAN be placed in range slot, I would be tempted to use as a weapon. I know that casters (of any type) do not generally melee at higher lvls, but with the nice ratio plus a decent proc.... Be very interesting! Not sure what other range slot items there are for Shaman, but I personally would be hard pressed to let it just sit there. Shaman out there, speak out. Shows that it had the Range:50 item property that allowed it be placed in range slot, and maintained this property up until Luclin.
