The loss of timers is pretty annoying. I'm confused by the responses here though. What exactly is classic EQ? If we are talking about 1999, why aren't we forced to look at the spell book to med? If we are talking about 1999, why do we have Kunark and Vellious? I don't get the classic thing. The vellious era certainly had many, many changes from "classic".

I can't say to know the answer to your question, but I can guess "classic" is somewhat a fluid definition but I would wager that "classic" is anything pre-PoP (maybe earlier?). Anyone's guess is as good as mine, though.
I think the loss of the timers is annoying.
