Currently after successfully applying a poison it works like any random proc would.

Successfully applied poisons should proc on the First landed melee hit.

earlier today I was in Solb and it took 3 mobs before my applied poison would proc, which is nice for the DD's but for the debuffs/dots its nice to be able to rely on that first hit.

I'm sure I can find a source to prove this if its required.
