It worked fine on SZ before the population tanked. Mostly due to:
1) training being legal (dumbest call in EQ history)
2) the game was old and newer games cater better to PvP
It would never work on a server with this small of a population, however. Balance really wasn't a big issue. Evil was the most advanced and they had no paladin, druids, or rangers. Instead, they had shadowknights and necros...big deal. (Note: you could summon your corpse with insignas from killing people on SZ)
The racial team servers were always a dumb idea.
