I joined red after coming back to the game.
I started off blue, but I sat there after awhile wondering why I was gathering items to beat content I already knew I could beat. It's not like this game takes an extraordinary amount of skill to play. It's just very time consuming and unforgiving if you make a mistake, unlike most MMORPG of today, which is the nostalgic appeal.
At least on red it feels like I'm acquiring gear for an actual purpose. Attacking and being attacked gives me an excitement I just can't get fighting scripted mobs. The threat of losing whatever coined I earned before the encounter gives me a urgency to live at all costs, instead of just knowing there's a cleric no more then a zone away I can purchase a rez from if shit goes bad.
And I don't get where the idea that the reds community are a bunch of pvp ganking tards. Nicest people I've met on p99. There are bad apples on every server, but I barely see any on red. And so far I haven't encountered a single person come up to the spawn I'm camping and just claim it's his, trying to skew arbitrary rules to favor why he suddenly owns a camp you've been at for 4 hours. So far for me it's always been people either asking me if I'm camping said mob, then wishing me luck when I say yes. Or its people asking me for a duel for the spot, which again so far has been done fairly with both parties letting the other get to full mana/health before starting.
I have yet to hit the end game pvp, so perhaps that's different. But so far leveling to 38 has been nothing but great things.

Why should the gear you wear be a major determining factor of how well you perform in PvP? That sounds very backwards. The reason why PvP in games like Dark Age of Camelot and Darkfall is unparalleled is because your skill as a player always outweighs the gear you wear.
Try killing a naked player in Darkfall who can move and aim better than you. It doesn't matter what gear you're wearing. But at least if you beat them you know it was a true measure of your personal skill and not because of your gear. It's silly to come on Blue forums and downplay the server and its settings when your version of PvP is pretty mediocre itself.
