I am not sure what Verant's reasoning was, but it seems to be something Brad was fond of, VSoH suffered from it too for quite some time until SoE patched it out as part if its blundered attempt to save the game. I promptly rolled a halfling disciple (and monk) and never looked back. Halflings were much better looking in VSoH though. Here I'd have to roll DE monk ^^
