There is twice as much HIV per capita in the adult population in North America compared to South and South East Asia [1]. And 20% more in North America compared to Indonesia, if we only look at that. [2].

Plus with all the retrovirals they got today HIV is pretty much just an annoyance rather than a death sentence.
