You have no clue what the history of this server is - you dont know who you can fuck with and walk away from. You don't know who you are giving gear to and how deeply your guild is already infiltrated.
I give your true blue players 3 months before they go back to blue and you are usurped by the scum. You had a good thing going but you opened the gates and the sewers to friends who will slit your throat when they are damn well ready.

Pretty much this. It may have taken a little bit longer denying the shitters in your guild but at least everyone would have known you guys were legit.
