That sounds like the bug you get when Windows has been running for too long without being properly restarted. If you are using Windows 8, the 'shut down' option is actually a hibernation state and you need to restart to clear out the accumulated bugs and memory leaks. I assume the same will be true of Windows 10 and it may also be true of Windows 7 and Vista.
Of course, if you are still on XP or earlier, that's fine; as they say around here, "shit's classic..."
