just installed a f2p eq2 and romped around a bit. im pleased at how well they've preserved the core game unlike eq1 which had its mechanics totally altered.

if that's true, you choose your class immediately upon creation and coercers (along with some of the other previously faction-restricted classes) can play both sides.. just fyi
some of the classes are still faction-restricted: paladins/SK & conj/necro for example, and so are races.
have not confirmed if the betrayal quest to change citizenship to the opposing faction is still implemented, but assuming so at this point.

Didn't know they removed some of the faction restrictions, interesting. The mentoring system still in place? That was the one of the best ways I've seen in an MMO to play with pals who decide to show up to the party late.
