In that article was city workers that include hospital staff and firefighters....do you hate them too? And by the looks of it, it was due to overtime pay (which is usually double the pay). So if they were making 50,000 a year and worked some heavy duty over time..that could raise some bucks.
By the looks of it, California is spending their money carlessly...it isnt the police officers. In Minnesota (which is one of the higher paying police departments in the U.S.) the average starting salary is 55,000
