I'm sure that you are trying to get your skills up BEFORE Velious, but once it releases I remember Thurgadin being the best spot in game for tradeskills.

My line of thought is that there are other places that are easier to get to (and are available in game right now), if anyone wants to work on tradeskills for any reason. Velious just happens to be a good incentive for most players because of the shawl quests.
When I can get into Thurgadin, I'll investigate. I think I've only been there a handful of times on Live back in the day.
