I'll generally collect weapons most people consider trash (Silver Swiftblade, 11/24 int caster staffs) and hand them out in newbie zones.
I don't think most of these people continue playing though because I've only run into 1 of them who made it beyond lvl 10. Probably why a lot of people on the server don't do this kind of stuff generally.
