I totally don't disagree there, it's probably a bit over done at the moment. Bottom line is line more people on the server = more people to kill, more guilds, more competition.
Someone new logging onto a 15 year old game is going to be more attracted to a server where there's lfg in channel and active auctioning, than they will be listening to 10 people that don't know constantly spamming semi coherent rage and trolling because they didn't get enough attention as children.

That's what they needed to get rid of. Always has been. But going over the deep-end and shutting down /ooc for everything but a few specific options isn't the best thing to do either if community and growth are important.
And I don't want to hear any crap about lack of guides. They have a ton of guide apps with qualified reds to do it.
