In their defense, my understanding is that the problems at launch stemmed from adding instancing for newbie zones that they couldn't really test in beta because they didn't have the loads for them.

So instead of getting people to actually test their new code, they decided to give everyone /betabuffs, skip all the noob zones, and said go have fun!
