Just to understand this more clearly, is it true that someone at SoE released a version of the server code to the creative commons sometime in or around 2009? Is this also the reason why we must use a specific version of the client (e.g. titanium)?
My understanding is that due to several "holes" in the server code that was released, developers have to use old log files, a lot of guesswork (not to mention time investment), to release new content and fix existing bugs, etc. That said, does this announcement mean there will be more cooperation in terms of providing missing data, and if so, specifically to P99, EQEMU, and/or the entire EMU community potentially? What does this mean for users and game clients?
In a nutshell, is Daybreak endorsing EQEMU, or P99 specifically as an orphan work from a copyright perspective, or is this something else?
Fascinating stuff!
