The point of a persistent world MMO is that it's—duh—persistent. If the design requires scheduled "wipes" to prevent stagnation then it's already failed at a mechanical level, or at least in influencing the perceptions of its players.

It's likely that every server will have a totally different "world map" and when a server "resets" the entire world map the server is using will be changed to a new one.
All the negative I see in this thread is a whole bunch of bluebieness.
You people on Red99 confuse farming VP for 4+ years and having 8 toons in BIS VP gear with "skill." Shadowbane was a game of skill whereas EverQuest is a game of gear.
EverQuest PVP is primarily about gear and numbers; this is the reason you losers gear Rogues and Rangers with epics and VP items then de-level them to 10 or 20 to kill people in rags. Again, you confuse this "griefing" with "PVP."
