These Cactii are not what they seem. Take a closer look, do they not resemble the human form? Have we ever seen a baby cactus? No. They are always fully grown.
I do believe that they are not sentient magical cactii, or travellers from a distant universe, but travellers from a distant time.
They are us. We are them. We will one day evolve into sentient cactus-like beings.
