tala the bard
• What helpful words would you have for these "too nice" players?
You're on red now, the main thing that set's it apart from the blue server is pvp. Enjoy it!
• Is it cruel or unsportsmanlike to attack another player unprovoked?
No. It is what you do afterwards that decides those things.
• Is it possible for a nice person to participate actively in PvP without guilt?
Yes! You have so many options! You can target people who target people who can't defend themselves, you can self impose handicaps, you can pick fights with people who are higher level and better gear than you do. The world is your oyster.
• If you roll on Red, do you have to go around killing people and you're super duper lame if you don't murder at least one person every time you log on?
No. I find this mind set offensive and detrimental to the server.
• While each player can have his or her own moral boundaries around PvP...what constitutes honorable and dishonorable PvP to you?
I feel like pvp should be used to settle differences. It is the tool that the community should be using to enforce ideals like LnS, non griefing, etc.
On the other hand we have a lot of people who just use PVP to harass other people and take away from their enjoyment. I find that distasteful.
• what is your attitude or mindset when it comes to PvP?
• What about all the trash talk and humiliation that goes on in OOC and elsewhere? How does a new player be undisturbed by this?
Sit back and watch.
• Do our records on the r99pvp.com leaderboard matter?
Yes. The system was made by a player of Azrael and he would share the secrets of how to farm the most points etc etc with those players and if you look at the board the majority of higher ranked players are the ones who abused the information he provided. The board does still have value as a living history or what guilds characters have been in so that guild leaders can make better decisions about who they invite.
They also are a pretty good indicator of who is a douche on the server.
