Early on, you're almost certainly not going to make enough cash to cover the cost of your spells without spending a little time grinding out wisps or something. People might help you out, but then again this usually comes in the form of gear that's a solid upgrade for you but which won't sell quickly.
The biggest reason not to bother transferring a few hundred pp is that nobody is going to do that. You're almost certainly not going to find someone willing to trade in such small amounts, especially considering the risk of getting the transaction flagged and their character banned if you turn out to RMT or something.
