With EQ next looking less and less like a viable option, and the popularity of emulated mmorpg's that are more challenging, I really do hope someone captures the niche market share for these gamers.
I think the key is, people who and an in-depth and challenging MMO will, for the most part, gladly sacrifice stunningly amazing graphics and physics. So many of these games try to look and feel so amazing that they spend millions on it and when the game comes out it is the same diluted game play we've seen over and over that eventually flops just like it's predecessors.
