You know they write about what you - as gamers - talk about, so when you talk about it more, they think it's worth it for them to write about it. Modern media in general is about clicks. If you can get 8 million people to guess what colour a dress is, you're hired. Who cares about integrity, just make it go viral and watch the ad rev roll in.
The correct reaction to avoid this whole thing would have been to shrug like the rest of us, but instead you choose to have yourself click trolled ad infinium along with the army of autists you choose to keep company with.
