Ayn Rand is a narcissist ass hole. I can't stand her.
A) her books sucked (fountainhead was OK)
B) she didn't follow any of her own advice
Robert Heinlein makes a way better case for libertarianism in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. It's worth a read regardless of your politics, heinlein is a great author
