I just don't understand how variance wouldn't promote long fights for zone control to ensure you have a shot at the dragon/god. Some of the most fun I had on SZ was the all day fights across gfay/lfay/CB/MM with hundreds of people running around.
Isn't that point of the red server, to promote pvp?

Variance mainly makes raiding more demanding, since you need members prepared to get up in the middle of the night to kill a dragon.
Asking for variance here is hoping that being able to batphone 20 people at 4 in the morning is going to make you have more online then an 80 people guild of which most have jobs / families.
Holo has like 500, so variance isn't going to help in a significant way, besides serving as an excuse.
