I can see why you would think chess has more skill than EQ, you're a meticulous person who admires pattern recognition, the kinda guy who really appreciates a good pie chart.

Sadly in EQ that will avail you nothing as players can adapt and switch tactics at a moments notice. A good player must switch camera angles constantly, use terrain, and counter their opponents. Things your mind are incapable of because you stick to pre-planned patterns.

Psychology and knowing your opponent also play an important role. While I seem like random chaos to someone like yourself, I can read you like a book.
