I can't imagine anyone who regularly plays on P1999 is particularly surprised at how much of this sort of thing goes on. Most of us are probably well accustomed to seeing new folks come out of nowhere wearing fungi tunics and nice haste items because they have "friends" who help them out. In addition, there's little sane motivation--except for sales--for certain folks to camp out specific items for weeks or months straight.
