I can sympathize with people who would like to try out red without leaving behind something they've put time and effort into on blue. I didn't try red for the longest time much for that reason. But really, starting new on red is a great experience.
Almost no one is twinked, and the huge group xp bonus means players seek each other out and group up to level. Porters are pretty helpful getting new players to XP groups without payment. It's a lot of fun, epic battles against every XP mob since your tank has rusty weapons and your casters don't have a ton of cheap twink gear to boost their hp/mp pools.
Yeah, there's "griefers" here or there, but I've gone 1-35 on a cleric and only run into them twice even though I've leveled through crushbone, unrest, and mistmoore. They're just bored idiots who can't whore a leaderboard on their mains so they do it on twinks. They get bored if you don't give them what they want on their twinks too though, and then you can get back to your fun easily.
Meanwhile, you're playing EQ. But it's EQ with PVP in the mix to keep things interesting when you want to switch it up!
It's worth a shot if you're at all interested.
