This reminds me of when I was getting out of the Marines, this 1stsgt was trying to convince me to re-up or extend for another deployment. One of the ways he tried to convince me to stay in was because there were "over 500 million unemployed Americans." I was transferring units that day to go be a training cadre while I waited for my EAS date, so I had absolutely no reservations about informing him that there were just over 300 million Americans in the United States.
