I don't see your point there Bristle.
You can level fairly quick on red, it doesn't take long to get to 46 and get into the planes... and if you join a guild I'm sure they'll be able to help you with a few basic items along the way.
So what's wrong with starting from scratch? Give it a try, it's a different approach to the game than buying up a load of cheaply available gear in EC.
Funny how people will moan about the red XP rate being too quick sometimes but they want to be hand fed items before they start to make the XP/leveling process easier
