Again, Spineless Snake works better as an insult. Since snakes have spines (of sorts) calling them spineless says they are not only a snake, but a malformed one.

I see your logic. I agree with you in theory. But, in practice I disagree. The point of this insult is to convey that they cowards - that they won't stand up for themselves. And nothing else. Therefore, the redundancy of jellyfish, or worm, really brings forward a palpable sense of gutlessness.
However, if you were wanting to imply someone is both a coward and a liar, or a devious coward, I would agree that "spineless snake" is the superior insult.
Yet, in Chest's blind rage towards Omni, he cannot focus long enough to craft two-pronged insults. They must be direct and painful, like the crippling blow dozens of our beloved members dealt BDA when they left us for a new master.
Language is not so strict as to always be restricted by pure grammar. Especially when it comes to insults and slang!
