first off, if you are caught off guard to an intruder in your house, you are doing home security wrong. I am alerted to an intrusion far sooner then the intruder would know someone is alerted. Secondly, it takes me 5 seconds from laying in bed to standing fully armed with the shotgun. I'll be at the point of intrusion with either night vision for stealth, strobe flashes for disorientation, and/or red dot sights for precise shooting depending on the situation. Lastly, in the case I am "delusional" as you obviously are, there is always the 45 mounted to the side of my night table.
