That Fine Plate could be dyed AFTER the fact, leading to many scammers claiming to be smiths and saying "I'll dye your armor black, for 50pp, just hand me the bp!"

Fine Plate is dyed AFTER it is made. It's just that once it's dyed it cannot be dyed again (i.e. dying recipes require the undyed stuff.)
