I have my very first created character who, if my forum account sign up date matches it's creation (which it very well should), was created in 2012. I have however logged in on several occasions for moments throughout the year. Are you sure you're fully up to date and on the proper server? (didn't accidentally click red 99?), also I have seen this happen before but it seemed to be a fluke as relogging remedied it.
