Well the play Red or play Blue thing I think boils down to how good you are at EQ. I would never suggest a total newb go play on Red. I would bet they would quit EQ and NEVER come back, even though it is a lot better now than it was say 4 months ago.
Dying time after time to Mobs and being Ganked PvP wise would get old as hell quick. And we all remember when we were new to the game we died to about every other mob, clicked on Venders attack wise, Guild Leaders, the list goes on.
