I LAN'd that a few years ago with a friend of mine. It is a LOT of fun, especially as you grow more powerful and get fun items.
If you're interested in an old, D&D rpg game of similar, if not higher quality, and more complex storyline, i highly suggest Planescape: Torment

Planescape has a great story, but the combat is much better in BG/IWD
