Placeholder respawn is just under an hour... 52 minutes is what I recall but don't quote me on that.
Basically I just left my main character there for a few days and would log in when I woke up in the morning before work, when I got home and then again before going to bed. I got the drop within a couple of days without having to sit around for hours.
The mob is so much tougher than most things in the zone that it's almost never camped and when it spawns people are not able to kill it most of the time so they just leave it there.
